Introducing Redfin Teams

by Jim Marks

2024 has been a year of big changes and exciting growth at Redfin! You’ve probably heard by now about Redfin Next, our new fully commission-based agent pay plan. Redfin Next has been more than just a way to pay our hardworking agents—I like to think of it as our new operating system that lays the entire foundation for how our brokerage works. Today, I’m excited to tell you more about the first “app” we’re building on top of the new system: Redfin Teams

What are Redfin Teams?

Redfin Teams are an opportunity for top-producing agents—and those working to be top producers—to formally partner their business with one or more other agents. Redfin Teams are designed to help you grow your income, advance your career, and improve your work life balance.

How are Redfin Teams different from other agent teams?

Agent teams aren’t a new concept in the real estate industry, but at Redfin we like to put our own spin on things. Our agent teams are different because they’re built on the power of Redfin Next. That means you earn a big traditional split on your own deals or those of your team, coupled with plenty of high-quality leads from Redfin.com and the benefits and support you need to do your job well.

From day one at Redfin, you get access to our tried and true system, including a world-class CRM platform, a ready-built team of showing agents and coordinators, sales coaches and marketing support—all backed by a powerful national brand and the most-visited brokerage site in the country. That means you get to focus on your clients, teammates, and closing sales while we take care of the rest.

How are Redfin Teams structured?

We want our teams to have the flexibility to determine how they’ll work together and to build a team that works for them. That said, there are two general structures that we find work well at Redfin.

  • Rainmaker model: The team is led by a top-performing agent with a deep pipeline of past contacts and customers. The team lead maximizes Redfin’s leads while providing guidance and mentorship to their team of agents. Team agents help support the lead’s large book of business while growing their own with Redfin leads. Longtime Redfin superstars like Dan Close and his teammates David Miller and Wanda Austin-Wingood have embraced this model because it allows the lead agent to scale their business and help develop new talent while boosting productivity. As a solo agent, Dan closed $42.7M in sales in 2023. Now, Team Close is on track for over $80M in 2024.
  • Partnership model: Partnerships consist of teams of two or more agents who collaborate, maximizing Redfin leads and sharing responsibilities. Each agent brings complementary skills to grow their business and support one another. This model has allowed teams like Elena Fleck and Jonathan Huffer of The Luxury Experts to thrive. As partners, they’ve been able to attract more clients with their “buy one, get one free” approach, deepen their reputation for white-glove service, and give each other dedicated days off to rest and recharge.

How will joining a team at Redfin help me expand my business?

Redfin Teams helps you expand your team’s business by unlocking seamless collaboration and helping you manage your day-to-day tasks more efficiently. Redfin’s collaborative CRM gives you and your teammates better visibility into each other’s business, saving you time and increasing your productivity. We also help your team stay busy by providing a steady flow of high-quality leads from Redfin.com, and give you access to custom marketing resources to help your listings—and your agents—shine. All of these benefits translate to more sales for your team, and more money in your pocket!

Can working on a team help me achieve a better balance between work and the rest of my life?

Being an agent used to mean being constantly on the clock, but achieving a better balance is possible with Redfin Teams. Our teams structure their working time together so that busy days are covered efficiently and each agent can still have the time they need to rest and recharge. Whether that’s a fully unplugged vacation or alternating weekends off is totally up to you and what works for your team! This intentional planning not only boosts your success, it also inspires customer confidence knowing someone is always there for them.

Will joining a team help me grow my career?

Absolutely! Redfin Teams are all about honing your craft through collaboration. Whether you’re a team lead or a team agent, you’ll develop better sales, mentorship and leadership skills by learning from the best! It’s a great opportunity to enhance your personal brand while being part of something bigger than yourself. You’ll help build a culture of performance, accountability and teamwork and drive greater success for everyone involved.

Who should join or grow a team at Redfin?

We’re recruiting agents and existing teams in all of our business markets. You should consider joining or starting a Redfin Team if you are:

  • A current top producer looking to scale your business
  • A customer-focused agent hungry for more experience and mentorship on your way to becoming a top producer
  • An existing team that wants to uplevel your business with Redfin’s technology, benefits, support and customer introductions

How do I join?

I’m incredibly excited about the opportunities ahead with Redfin Teams and believe it’s going to be a thriving part of our business. By 2027, we expect at least half of Redfin agents will work on a team–and I’m hoping you’ll be one of them! If you’re interested in joining a team at Redfin or unleashing your current team’s potential with Redfin Next, you can apply on our career site. Still have questions?
